SOMATICS REFERS TO ORIENTING YOUR AWARENESS INTERNALLY,

TO SENSE THE LIVING PROCESS THAT IS YOUR BODY FROM WITHIN.

YOUR BODY IS A SOMA

A body is not an object, it is a living, sensing, moving process: a soma. Movement is something you are more than something you do. This movement may be expressed externally through space, but it is also happening within you. The continuous flow of fluid through cellular membranes, for example, is a primary characteristic of life, of being alive.

Whatever your physical ability, moving with consciousness of your body moving, is what defines a somatic practice: it helps you sense and feel your body better. Somatics, then, is a process of learning about yourself through your body. You can discover and integrate areas of yourself that feel unfamiliar or neglected; and re-visit habituated behaviours and processes to open up new pathways of expression.

Body-Mind Centering® is a somatic modality grounded in experiential learning. Through guidance and facilitation it invites you to encounter yourself where you are, as you are. It is through this encounter that change then becomes a possibility.
